I built my first Guitar working at my dads building supply company in Thessalon when I was 14 years old (my dad can build anything, so I figured why not me too). It was a bass guitar and I finished it in leather like a Kustom amplifier. Then I took a break from guitar building for over 30 years. I did spend a bit of time hanging around Donnie McPhee’s guitar shop, in hind sight I should have spent more time as Don was a master luthier.
I’ve been playing guitars since I was 12, I know you can buy a lot of good guitars, but I thought if I can build my own, then why not? So I’m doing it.
Here is my re-entry to guitar making, the Bratocaster named after my bother in-law Tom Brason who helped me a lot setting up jigs and routing templates, Tom is like... one with the router eh!
So have a look around and see what you think, the Bratocaster is a cherry-wood guitar finished in Nitro Cellulose lacquer.
The next project is the Flukenbocker bass guitar.
Best Regards, Dalton
